Skiff Camping
Breaks
A permanent fixture in our
Weekly Weekend Offers, Skiff Camping is a delightful way to both explore the River Thames and view the sights at your leisure.
Skiffs are sleek rowing boats, first developed in Richmond - which was once
the primary location for Londoners to spend a weekend or holiday. They allow for safe and easy river boating, and some 12-16 miles can be covered in a day - giving you the opportunity to relax in unspoiled, picturesque surroundings, or while away a Summer afternoon at a traditional riverside pub. You can explore any part of the Thames, from Lechlade to Windsor or, perhaps for a shorter holiday, the tranquil water meadows of the River Wey in Surrey.
Come nightfall, you can either camp on the riverside, in the Skiff (as the activity implies) - creating a snug sleeping tent by dropping down the full-length boat cover - or - if you prefer civilisation - you can stay at any of the riverside B and B's. Wherever you choose to travel to or from, a Skiff delivery or collection service can be arranged. We can also recommend the best overnight stops - just ask!
